I think the thing that pains him is that he knows that he’s never actually going to be compared to or have his legacy in music compared to Kenny/Cole/Drake, the ones he always took a lot of “inspiration” from.

His legacy in the mainstream is basically being the Suicide PSA biracial rapper. I know he’s self aware enough to know that no money or amount of fans can fix that for him and that’s gotta hurt. Because he came into the game with some interesting potential. He just never figured out how to expand musically in a way that didn’t feel derivative.
