Assuming I gotta beat the first game if I wanted to play this one…first one wasn’t for me unfortunately but some of the gameplay of this looks cool.

I am skipping 1 and many said you don’t need 1 watch a recap waiting to see if reviews think same

I hope not. Some of the levels they’ve shown look crazy in this.

Yeah the control 1 design a bit archaic and that map system is atrocious

They’ve said in interviews this works as its own thing without needing to play 1

You’d obviously miss out on the little Easter eggs and stuff, but the recap should do a good job giving you the general picture

same way you could play alan wake 2 without beating 1. I beat 1 but they really have a good way of everything making sense either way

Ye that’s mainly why I believe them here. I never fully beat AW1, never had an issue understanding who the returning characters were and what they did in the first one.
