People need to understand that black ops games and modern warfare games have separated into their own distinct identities. They borrow a few ideas from one another, but they have seperate visual styles, gameplay styles, map design, philosophies, etc.

It’s not that the games lack identity, it’s more so modern cod has been distilled into two different flavors now. BO8 will probably have omnimovement

Also I saw you mentioned BO6 as if that was the last BO you played. Play BO7, it’s leagues better

Since MW19 i always felt this too
MW was moreso the battlefield competitor in terms of realism and slower, more tactical gameplay. The best graphics and gunplay but also most grounded and slowpaced in the series. I loved it

Starting with Black Ops Cold War I thought treyarch did a great job of taking some of the best of MW19 while maintaining a lighter, more arcade like feel. And i never pitted those games against each other because they each had distinct play styles and gameplay that scratched different itches. Both of those are probably some of my favorite CODs, maybe it was having time to lock tf in on them during Covid, but i have so many fun memories with both

I hope this gets back to that MW19 vibe. Mw2 & 3 were not my favorite, and the series could benefit from realizing they have two subseries that serve different fans and needs

Absolutely agree. They should commit to their vision on both sides. Fans of each can be satisfied. It’s kinda like how capcom has a mainline team and a portable team for the monster hunter franchise.

Maybe bring back sledgehammer for alternative/experimental CoD titles in between the two big franchises. This mixes things up and gives IW/3arc proper time to polish their games. I also want some cod games in different settings
