Why does america have such a crime problem that we need so many police? Is it guns? Poverty?

their is no correlation between the amount of police in the US and "crime".

Thats what i am thinking but what confuses me is why do americans have the delusion that there is a correlation or a need for so many cops? Or are they blatantly racist enough to consciously support the prison system that clearly targets black ppl?

its the latter. white people in the US for the most part don't mind the legal system being utilized for the slow genocide of black people.

yo im all for police reform and i know that objectively cops target minorities especially black people more than anyone else

however this dude literally ran over a random traffic cop because he was angry. i can empathize with the anger and frustration of not getting justice and feeling the need to take it into your own hands, but that comes with consequences, especially how sloppy it is to not even try to get revenge on the actual people involved.

constant propaganda through the unending number of police procedural and true crime tv shows, local news' focus on all crime (and their reliance on police written reports), and politicians' using "lowering crime" as a mainstay campaign promise really does a number on the average person's perception of the world around them too
