I haven't seen a single bad Nolan film. People just gotta let him cook at this point.

the level of nitpickiness over this is hilariously over-the-top. like first there were people crying over the costumes, then they were crying over the accents, then they were crying over matt damon having a "modern face", and now they crying about someone saying "dad" and "let's go"

like tf are we doing right now man

This just the consequence of being too successful without being pretentious, now it’s happening to Nolan but it has happened to many big artists in the past

I would say Following (his very first film) and Insomnia are his worst but I wouldn't say they were necessarily bad. Maybe a bit boring.

Kinda pretentious to quote a quote from one of Nolan's films but it's what I think of all the time (not just for Nolan, anytime something like this happens)

ehhh you guys are giving nolan too much credit here tbh. his movies lend themself to critical responses because they are heavy on spectacle and concept while being light on good human scenes of dialogue.

he is way closer to james cameron than martin scorsese

He don't have a bad film honestly. Insomnia is his weakest but it's still a decent watch

Nobody ever claimed that he was close to Scorsese, everyone always acknowledges that Nolan is the master of populist cinema

Yes. Insomnia is fine it's just a bit boring and nondescript. Doesn't really have anything that makes it stand out

hmm agree to disagree. i think insomnia is a very good thriller (mind u i havent watched it in 5+ years but i remember liking it).

it's way better than a mediocre comic book movie. TDKR has some good set pieces but its not a good movie IMO

IMO TDKR ain't mediocre, it's just a bit bloated and the weakest of the trilogy. But it's still a good film imo (I haven't seen it in a while, I'm rewatching it next weekend, and I rewatched Insomnia last month)

i dont like TDKR to be very blunt. it is like spider man no way home. got some cool scenes that dazzle the viewer but the plot is so f***ing stupid that it's hard not to gag every 10 minutes when the next stupid plot point comes up.

but ppl liked No Way Home so idk ppl like dumb s***

the fact that if you say this about Nolan's filmography, no one can even know what two classics you're referring to is kinda proof in the pudding of how good Nolan is lmao

    Fairs

I'm personally referring to Big Oppie and The Prestige there

you're a real one for having those two as your top

    (my point still stands though)

i mean what you just described is the Tall poppy syndrome. it pretty much happens to most people who end up being successful in their field

doesn't make it any less cringe seeing this s*** get played out in real time

  • I love how nolan tried to do as much practical effects as he can. Looks so much better than cg in most cases. Really can't wait to see the cyclops and them other giant armored dudes

That first teaser that dropped a year out had me floating but something about the way it’s shaped up with more and more footage looks a bit flat to me for some reason.
