Oppenheimer had mixed reception? In what world?

I'm still not over casting Matt Damon.
Damon can play clever/wily characters really well and he can be really charismatic as well. I feel like he's gonna be a good fit for Odysseus (I've felt that from day 1)
Lol mfs call Snyder s*** “colorless”.
Nigga, I CANNOT HEAR OR SEE S*** INNA NOLAN MOVIE…
Using the fantastical elements to deflect criticism about historical inaccuracy is a lazy cop-out. Especially bc the Odyssey IS in fact firmly rooted in historical context.
Nosferatu, for example, is a fictional story about a mf vampire, yet that didn’t stop Eggers from delivering deeply researched, historically grounded costuming/characterization. That kind of care and passion always elevates the work, imo.
Like, if you're excited for the movie regardless, just say that. But don't act like the criticisms are entirely baseless.

Homer himself (or whoever wrote the original works) took liberties with the time period / cultures when telling the stories with the intent of making them appeal to modern sensibilities.
It's not suddenly not rooted in historical context if the helmets are wrong

I like Damon as an actor tho

Damon is undoubtedly one of the most underrated actors of all time
There’s a reason why virtually every big director loves to work with him. He’s extremely versatile

Last Duel was goated
In the latest Percy Jackson episode they showed Scylla and Charybdis. It’s gonna be interesting how the depictions will differ from another. We know they used animatronics for Polyphemus, but I’m not sure you can use the same technique for the other monsters.

I'm not saying he's a bad actor, but he might be one of the most famous and easily replaceable actors you wouldn't miss.

Idk i think most of his iconic roles aren't very easily replaceable. Playing arrogant but still likeable/sympathetic characters is a difficult line to balance and whether it's in Good Will Hunting or Oppenheimer or Bourne or whatever, he's consistently nailing it.
Don't really get the complaint that he's generic or could be replaced
Contagion
Talented Mr Ripley
Bourne
The Departed
Oceans
Good Will Hunting
The Last Duel
Behind the Candelabra
The Rainmaker
Yall better put some muhfuckin respect on Damon’s name
Merry Christmas!
