People need to chill out. They only sold tickets for one showtime per day for the first weekend. They can’t schedule more than that right now cause they don’t even know what the runtime is yet.

Sinners was being played in 70mm IMAX 24/7 (literally, they’d have 3am showtimes) for two weeks straight at my theater. They sold like 5% of all eventual available 70mm tickets this morning.

Dallas. There’s only one theater here, although with a significantly less population to serve. People from surrounding states travel for the 70mm showings though.

I’ve seen every Nolan movie in 70mm going back to TDKR (minus Tenet cause it didn’t get shown in that format due to the pandemic). I don’t expect this one to be an issue when the rest of the tickets go on sale 10 months from now

Anyone buying a scalped ticket is not smart. There’s going to be a ton more tickets available.

Any sales they make to desperate buyers right now already puts them in profit tho.

They're at worst case they're left with some they sell for face value because IMAX 70mm will sell out worldwide and be in demand regardless. This isn't an "accessible" format for most people

I moved from London to NYC 3 years ago and didnt realise how insane it is.

Tried seeing Dune 2 imax....throughout the whole run it was impossible to get a decent seat in the AMC Lincoln. Crazy how thats the only legit imax in NY

Is the one on 34th a fake IMAX?

I wouldnt say fake but my understanding is its much smaller, and for me the experience of IMAX is about the huge screen / space and the dolby feedback from the speakers for the theatre size.

Thats before getting into all the differences about imax projectors used...but im not that deep with it.
