To generate hype and position your work as a luxury good that deserves the higher pricepoint. People go on half a day trips just to get to one of those cinemas.

We have to separate the imax ratio from film projection. Not attacking you, but I think since the rise of Sinners there’s been this big conflation between the two.
Actually 70mm film projection is much more widely available than imax 70mm. 1.43:1 the true imax aspect ratio (the imax in imax 70mm) is more rare. A chunk of theaters will be showing it in 1.43 digital. You have to look for it though. Pairing 70mm projection with the ratio is your imax 70mm which is the format that’s sold out for 3 weeks

I’m seeing it at an “imax” theatre near me but it’s not 70 mm . The only 70 mm near me is booked up for a month by the time I can go it won’t be shown in 70mm anymore. Everywhere else is undrivable /would have to be a night to stay somewhere in a dif state which is excessively overboard lol

and it would still be a 3 hour drive I didn’t care originally, but reviews are really selling the 70mm imax version
