didnt think he played the villain well at all. the character was one who started out as a smart enthusiastic scientist and then took a villain turn. he was fine in the former part, but didnt land the villainous turn at all IMO. it almost felt like a comedy when he was turning villain. idk - needed a tonally darker actor. if u cast matt damon as the villain in your movie its not a good casting decision IMO

also surprising the viewers with matt damon was dumb. u dont want a big star to be the guy you introduce late in the movie with no warning. it's like if they got to that planet and unzipped the cryogenic bag and it was denzel - you would be like wtf thats not a random scientist thats denzel
