So he was inverted 30+ years to come back to that period?

Yes.

Lol idk why this is such a prominent theory.

I didn’t think it until Neil said at the end: “nobody cares about the bomb that doesn’t blow up”, and then you saw Kat & Neil walking away, to which he says: “Even though it has the biggest effect”.
So he was inverted 30+ years to come back to that period?
This is the part where it falls apart. You age as you invert still and Neil is in his 20’s I’m pretty sure. He had no time for inversion
Feel like it’s there to toy with viewers and that’s all. He’d have to invert back all the way past the events of the movie so that he can first be trained, and then experience that final mission

I mean does it?
It’s entirely possible to believe after 10-12 years at the end, The Protagonist meets Max (Neil) who completed his physics degree and recruits him and tells him to go back into the past for this mission. So that means Max has to invert back another 10-12 years to get to that point. It adds up
man

The protagonist’s future is in the past tho. He’s not moving forward in time, he’s going backwards to create Tenet and train people. Neil made friends with an older protagonist who was creating Tenet in the past and eventually recruited his younger protagonist self that Neil would have his last mission with
Neil told the protagonist “you have a future in the past” which means for this theory to be true Neil would have to invert years before the events of the movie for them to have had as long of a relationship as he’s implying
