Movie was slapped in the face by American critics. Mulan got better reviews, let that sink in. An ambitious and original, well made movie vs a remake from a monopolistic corporation.

    disgusting

  • Just finished my first watch. I felt that it was unnecessarily complex tbh

i feel like the problem with nolan currently is people cant help but compare it to his other movies instead of looking at it like a movie on its own

litearlly everywhere people are just comparing it to inception, which is just weird bc theyre completely different movies

i dont think there is any movie thats really comparable, this is definitely not like his other movies, its more like mission impossible or james bond type s***, not inception or interstellar

Straight off the bat, the movie had so much energy with the score. I can't stop listening to this track off the score. Ludwig really went hard on the composition and sound design for the movie

Yea, not sure how I felt bout this one. Just feels like Nolan got too lost in the concept.

Same thing happens with a lot of stuff like this. Hideo Kojima got crazy hate for it with Death Stranding for saying American tastes are different and more stream-lined, but legitimately nothing he said is inaccurate.

The rewatch itself is a “temporal pincer” just let that soak for a second.

Great film that I can see getting better on rewatches

Although yeah, I don’t think it’ll ever be a top 3 Nolan film for me

Bruh I was shook too. My friends found it cheesy when I said it initially but after the 2nd watch everyone was like

  • Sep 6, 2020

This is really good, but would it have killed Nolan to actually give a motivation or unique characteristics to any of the main characters?

Considering that we’re in the middle of a pandemic, and that only 65% of US theaters are open, and most of those are operating at 25% capacity, this is solid

The theaters are gonna work like inversion

Empty week one and get more and more crowded and then by a couple months in theaters packed out.

The $20M consist of early sneaks, Canada numbers and a 4day holiday weekend. I fear this is not enough to warrant more blockbuster openings this year in the US. But maybe this surprises next week, though the international numbers indicate normal „pre-corona“ drops.

I think WB is playing the long game

Tenet has September to itself really

Next big thing is Wonder Woman from WB, the Black Widow a month later

I think WB is looking at Tenet and WW as if they are going to have extended windows already

Movies already at 150 million with a number of big markets in the US and parts of the world not open yet so I think it can still have good legs

The real concern is word of mouth hasn’t been very good. B from CinemaScore, 79% on rotten tomatoes from users, and 7.9 on IMDb

WW and Dune are probably going to get pushed back now

20M isn’t terrible but not a good number either, China numbers aren’t good as well.

idk about that. I think the fact this film has already made 150 mil shows theaters are still a viable way of making good money. Tenet is gonna make way more money off theaters than it would've through streaming.

  • feel like movies during covid will be in theatres for a way longer period, will make alot of money, but just not as quick as pre-covid

20M wasn’t the number they were looking for. Almost half of it is Canada’s numbers from last weekend and this weekend. It’s open in almost all of of the largest international markets already.

They’ll be lucky to hit $400M WW.
Hopefully the word of mouth helps it’s legs.

well a number of big markets in USA haven't opened their theaters yet, so I can still see a good overall domestic number by the end of this run.

The problem actually is word of mouth. This is the worst reception any of his movies have ever had from general audiences.

regardless, even if this movie made 350 mil WW, that is far more money than what a movie is to make off streaming so WW84 and Dune will definitely follow suit.

Hopefully NYC and Cali help it’s legs, ima be sick if Dune is delayed
