damn still gonna see it tho
https://twitter.com/indiewire/status/1296839981239959552This is a really awful review btw
like very apparent that they didn’t pay enough attention
Second viewing would be rewarding but off that one viewing I fully understand the plot and everything
It doesn’t focus on any of the real flaws of the movie and just concocts non existent flaws like a lack of humor when the movie clearly wasn’t intended as a comedy
There’s also stuff in there - like the spinning top backpack thing comparison - that is wildly inaccurate and misleading
There are issues with this movie but this is a terrible review that fails to address those issues

how are rob and john's performances?
how are rob and john's performances?
Great by both but nothing that made me reevaluate either as actors in any real capacity
Best performance in the movie was Kenneth Branagh

How did you watch it early
lmaoooo looks like one of those photos people get with celebs where they tell a friend to grab a pic asap and it's halfway through shifting focus
General thoughts:
It’s really solid
Anyone sayings it’s nonsensical is an idiot - it is one of his most coherent movies
It is VERY fast paced - this can be mistaken for confusing but the movie gives you absolutely no leg up so you have to be paying full attention the whole time
The emotional side is by far the weakest part
Visually incredible throughout but ending 30 min was stunning
Sound design ins f***ing unbelievable
Soundtrack as well
Acting is great but the script doesn’t give a lot of room for best actor type stuff
Im also from australia so gotta ask u this
Did you find it hard to hear dialogue at times? Think my cinema mightve had funky audio tuning though the base seemed way too high
Yea there’s definitely gonna be people who s*** on this
Anyone suggesting this movie thinks it’s deeper than it is or is muddled or a mess is flat out wrong though
It’s just very very fast
It has its flaws absolutely but that criticism is just echoing people’s issues with other Nolan movies and those criticisms don’t apply here
Agree 100% with this. Nolan rarely if ever makes introspective movies so I dont know why people enter them expecting anything different or something oscar worthy
Great Nolan film, I rate most of his discog above this though.
Also parts of Kenneth Branaghs performance were the downsides of this move to me personally but I think it mightve been because the issues I had watching it that I put it in spoilers above ^

Do they mention the second law of thermodynamics
I’m just waiting for that roberebert review. Website does a good job of actually writing a review and not trying to put their own thoughts ahead of the film. Allows them to maintain some form of objectivity.
Is the sound mixing really that bad?
well it’s a Nolan film so I’m gonna guess yes
when I watched inception a couple of weeks ago it took me a good 15 mins to be able to adjust to hear the dialogue
The stories about Travis being a douche got to be cap because so many legends f*** with him
emotions are nolans weakpoint
Ppl say this but Interstellar, Dunkirk TDK, TDKR are some of the most emotional films to come out of Hollywood these past 15 years
Everyone called Endgame emotional but s*** was disingenuous and fake to me
screenings started 22nd in australia
Wait official ones? I thought the earliest was 26?

Got a bunch for ya so if you have the time
How similar is it to Inception, stylistically as well as thematically?
I've heard that Nolan tries to set up a lot of different things in the first half, but there are split opinions on how the ending turned out. Did he land the ending well enough in your opinion?
Anything fun or interesting about the film you can share with us that some might not be aware of yet without going into spoiler territory?
Where would you rank it among his other films off your first viewing?

Very. Different concept but very similar in a lot of respects.
I didn’t feel like there were any set ups that didn’t go anywhere. I’d argue a flaw was that there wasn’t enough set up and too much go go go
Honestly not that I can think of. Just watch as intently as possible start to finish
1. memento
2. Inception
3. The prestige
4. tenet
5. Interstellar
6. Dunkirk
Ignoring the Batman films and I haven’t seen Insomnia
