Maybe I’m more willing to believe in western media, because western media is legally allowed to report negatively about what happens in the government of the country they report in? You came armed with an opinion piece and a blog post
And maybe I happen to have friends from a country that was bombed by NATO just 21 years ago who know what it feels when the western media is spouting blatant lies on one nation in an attempt to demonize it. This is not the first time they're doing that, but right here- they're doing exactly that. For example if you were a foreigner talking to someone from the US, do you know how easy it would be to have a right-winger from the US simply show crime statistics in inner cities and be like "well see they're just violent areas so guess the police in the US aren't doing anything wrong and it's just fake news". That's demonstrably false, there are clearly policing issues in the US in spite of whatever "statistical data" is being used to counter it. I'm not arguing there isn't a level of sensationalism likely present in some articles because of current events. you're right that's likely the case - to an extent. but that doesn't simply make every single claim invalid.
not everything is a CIA operation or gov propaganda. the CIA can barely stage uprising in south america these days, they aren't competent enough to control the press of every western country at the same time especially with growing distances between european and american governments. have you seen leaked FBI docs from like 4chan? they can barely run a honeypot competently domestically. if the government can barely do it well here, it's very unlikely they can lead a pretty rock solid global propaganda campaign. this doesn't mean it's a non-0 percentage, but still. Look, man there's a difference between doing "bad s***" in war, and ethnically cleansing a territory from a specific group of people by systematically killing men and boys, and setting up rape camps for the women, which was done by the Serbian government. And to this day they are naming schools after the war criminals who did that.

But the moment Tito died, the centralized nature of the government created a power vacuum which was immediately filled by nationalists because of preexisting tensions among the ethnicities, and that's when the collapse slowly started. The Yugoslav people broke the SFRY, not an outside power of any kind. And for a lot of people, it's a hard pill to swallow because of the nostalgia, so they look for the blame elsewhere.
