I mean he isnt wrong. The issue with the French laws outlined by macron is that they do ultimately treat all followers of islam as a monolith meaning whether it's true or not, prejudice towards bad apples will end up spilling over.
By holding up the french anti terror policy and excusing what is objectively much worse than what the french are doing, the precedent is extended and amplified. It does seem like a slippery slope and even if they didnt mean it, I totally understand and agree with the concern

A more plausible and believable accusation would be that the United States is strategically using the situation w/ Uigur Muslims in China (not necessary on any moral high ground) to potentially reduce Chinese influence around the world since they are our #1 competition. They are pushing a narrative and trying to sway public opinion that causes politicians and business leaders around the world to not do business with a growing superpower. (And if these accusations against Uigur Muslims are indeed true, then bringing attention and awareness to this issue to promote change and social justice is justified even if the United States has ulterior motives).
