why won't people come together for this, like they did for George Floyd? The world went out and protested in an environment where people could get infected with deadly virus because our voices were important. This been going on for a long time and people still quite. Don't Uyghurs life matter? Is China to important to the world that we as people have to stay quite to not make China mad? We are kneeling for Communist China. People are dying in camps just because they have a faith in Communist China. How is this any different from what Hitler did to Jews and Slavs?

look man, i hold some radical beliefs, but i don't think ethnic cleansing is okay.
that being said, i still won't believe this s*** till there is actual proof -- based of the fact that america is a propaganda machine, you know what i mean?

yea there's drone footage of the camps, so what? are they the same drones which said there were WMD in Iraq?

most of these reports aren't from the US, they're from various european countries or Turkey. there is far more turkish news about this than elsewhere, a lot of what's in the US isn't originating from here but is Turkish news being regurgitated. this is not a new occurance; turkey/china discussions about uighurs has been going on for multiple years now. In 2018 and 2019 Turkey repeatedly brought up these claims, far before the US had any involvement in this denouncement. while the turkish government isn't saintly either (i.e. treatment of Kurds), trying to frame this as a series of claims originating from the US just isn't true, Turkey was the first country to publicize this multiple years ago and at the time the US didn't do anything, the US/UK/EU condemnation didn't join suit until recently

    oh my god

I meant to respond to the guys post up further ITT cause he asked why don't people care.

But that's the simple reason why the George Floyd situation was an officer knee on a neck for 8 minutes and the anger was at police a specific sub group.

This China situation involves economics, social differences and the unlike George Floyd businesses aren't gonna take a stand against China because it cost more then they can gain.

This isn't nearly as easily digestible for people either because it's so much into and not one moment.

So the ability to get people to care is just limited because of society and human nature.

That's the state of the planet for years people did the same for WWII and most Americans didn't support nor cared bout the genocide.

This is a harsh reality of society on a global scale and tryna get people to unite. You yourself further up ITT said you wouldn't believe it because of "American propaganda machine"

Your post was a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

interesting - thank you. do you know much about turkey-china relations?

i know more about intra-middle east history than I do inter-mediterranean/inter-middle east relations. Turkey has a historical relationship with the Uighurs because they are an ethnically Turkic group with cultural and language similarities. All i know is Turkey has been accepting muslim refugees/expats from China since the 50s and has a relatively large population of Uighurs who have left china in those decades. Turkey is not a typical western country in its relation to china in that it adheres to the One China policy for example and has multiple trade and biliteral cooperation agreements with the country (including prior military ones). While they are a member of NATO, they aren't a competitor like the US is with China which gives their claims far more merit. I will say for clarity in Turkey there are some politicians who do not want to further claims about the Uighurs because they think its a western thing (or that economic cooperation is important), but most of the claims originate from outlets in the country in spite of that.

reports and claims from Turkey far precede anything from the US. yes, the western media has now begun to roll with it under their own spin, but this does not change the fact that the origination of the vast majority of these claims come from turkish journalists multiple years ago. as i said earlier in the thread, yes, western media has spun the re-reporting of these stories, and yes, western media is only caring now that it's convienent too, but it doesn't change the fact that there was notice of these claims prior to western involvement

I think he means those major investigations that come to the conclusion that hundreds of thousands up to millions of Uighurs are in those camps.

There are really only two of those that I'm aware of and they're both from US sources.
