Thuso Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris and Tosin Cole are taking on the lead roles in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of “Children of Blood and Bone.” Gina Prince-Bythewood is directing the action fantasy film, based on Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, for Paramount Pictures.

The story follows Zelie and her older brother Tzain (Cole) as they form an alliance with the king’s daughter, Princess Amari (Stenberg) and son, Prince Inan (Idris) to fight back against his brutal rule.

Well a lot of these are first or generation African actors somewhat established in the western movie system so the pushback won’t be as hard.

They also put out a huge casting call for Nigerian talent but for none of the leads it seems

Ngl I understand the sentiment of casting Amandla cuz apparently the Rue character from Hunger Games inspired the author to write the book, but also..why? She’s playing Damson Idris’ sister and Idris Elba’s daughter this doesn’t make any sense.
