his music falloff should be studied. he’s been on a historic run of some of the worst music ever post-AML
nobody believes this
I’m not sure how I feel about this being his last album but it isn’t bad music be any means
It just doesn’t have much depth
nobody believes this
a lot of people believe this that’s why the music not connecting. nigga rereleased a whole album cus nobody listened to it the first time and still couldn’t get anybody to listen to it

I think it flopped cause there was literally 0 marketing and in 2020 it was unfinished he just put it out cause he wasn't in the space to make music anymore after his dad's passing.
Some amazing songs on there I truly think if he finished it in 2020 and released it with marketing it would have done a lot better

I'm still mad he butchered why go to the party on Atavista lmao f*** that album

Personally I don't think that's because of the quality of the music. He disappeared for way too long. When he came back, it was too lowkey / inaccessible / "mysterious" -- no track titles, no cover art, released only on his website for a week, etc. It was also literally the first week of pandemic so people had other s*** going on. Then he dipped again for 4 years. Everybody forgot bro existed because his gap between albums with quality releases was basically 8 years. But I thought 3.15.20 and Bando were both great projects

The music isn’t bad, his marketing for it has been absolutely horrific, that’s where the disconnect is.
If he would’ve striked while the iron was hot in 2018, we’d be having entirely different conversations about him right now. But, he wanted to prioritize film & TV, which makes sense considering that music has always been the side project for him

Butchered? Lol he shortened it and made it an interlude for Human Sacrifice. Probably for the best since 39.28 was very clearly just an unfinished demo that didn't have much direction after forty seconds
Though I will say that he probably could've/should've turned it into an actual track if anything

2017-2018 the hype for him was at a fever pitch. Grammys, Emmys, Coachella headline, Pharos II, This Is America and its tour, Atlanta season 2, Adidas collab, Guava Island, Lando Calrissian in Star Wars. Era was literally peak Donald Glover in every facet of entertainment.
He was building up what he wanted to be his last album in 2019, but I think that's the year he became a dad, and then his father died. Probably completely shutdown and that put a damper on everything.
I really feel like 3.15.20 and Bando Stone are the remains of what that 2019 album was supposed to be. Kinda makes sense because remnants of 3.15.20 that didn't make it to the Atavista re-issue ended up on Bando Stone. Cruisin apparently was a song that he was working on since like 2016/2017. Elements of 39.28 were worked into what became Survive on Bando Stone. And of course 0.00 on 3.15.20 became We Are God on Bando Stone. They're really companion albums. Makes me think that he probably wanted to do a double album.
I think Bino’s last 2 albums have been genuinely good.
I also believe that Bino just doesn’t care about having big hits or album sales anymore. Atavista and Bando Stone both feel like they were just made for his core fans
He probably feels like he already achieved everything he wanted in music after AML and This is America…..5 Grammys, #1 song, platinum album.
Bro signed a 8 figure deal with Amazon and bought a farm and probably decided to just be a family man and focus on writing for film/tv.
I wish he’d still be in his music bag, but I can’t be mad that he chose that route once he hit 40

My only problem is both were blatantly unfinished. Bando Stone is a really cool idea with some good songs but it has no cohesion at all and the movie/story is extremely half baked. If it came with an actual IMAX release I might feel differently but as is I was very underwhelmed
Nigga went out on the lowest note possible
Using AI for s***, making fake movie trailers and making a MID ass final album
Such a f***ing disappointing end to a cool musical career
