On the other hand in, for example, Transylvania, Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Jews, all lived side by side for centuries maintaining different languages, religions, customs, dress, ways of life for centuries - another example is Southeastern Anatolia with Turks, Arabs, Assyrians, Kurds, Armenians - of course there are downsides to this as well, as the the history of these places shows

Perhaps we can say the US has wide diversity, but it’s not as deep, or as self-sustaining - the trend of American culture and society is towards homogenization, both within and without
