lowkey, if the rock sound is anything like Thy Slaughter (AG Cook + Finn Keane) then I am in Charli is even featured on their album

considering they were all in the studio together

    they might seriously be cooking

do we have to take everything so literally?

dance artist moving away from dance-pop for an era says something like "the dance floor is dead" on a song. so we have to act like shes seriously proclaiming the death of electronic music, come on now

  • I love her and anything she does

She knew what she was doing when she said that, I'm not f***ing with it, especially when normals are taking her at face value & running with it.

yall gotta let artists experiment and put out the music before you judge.

    Nothing wrong with experimenting
It's just goofy to move to a new sound & say 'the dance floor is dead' so now I'm making rock music

she moves like a white women too much

It feels like a much much less harmful version of Miley doing the 'i was tripping when I was acting like a nigga but now I'm white again'
(Without the racism to it obviously)

Nowhere near as bad but it feels like a diet/jr/lite version of that
The loose idea that things are just phases to hop between & discard as one sees fit.

i just think some of you guys need to pump the brakes on reacting that strongly to this before hearing anything, especially taking into account that its from an artist who has been known for using irony, sarcasm in album promo and aesthetics before.

nearly Charli's entire career is making dance-pop or at least dance-adjacent pop of some form, taking this tiny thing and being ready to jump to the conclusion that she was just using it as a phase and is now disregarding and disrespecting it is just too far IMO. I'm not expecting everyone to strongly know Charli's work, the context of the era this is a reaction to, and what's she's probably angling for. I don't blame you for just reading what appears to be a weird quip in a headline and thinking it's dumb or a genuine remark on what's going on in the music world. But just relax before reading that much into it. Comparing this to Miley's use of hip hop is outrageous

album probably gonna end up being some dancey semi-electronic rock sound regardless

I was very clear that i meant it as a much much lesser version with that comparison

Let me make my off the cuff post while we are reacting to this in real time in a KTT2 thread

I'm just not really a fan of her as a person atp, I'm firmly in the 'fan of the music only' category
Rosalia is entering that category for me too tbf

im aware you said its a much lesser version, my point is i dont think it applies in the slightest so it's genuinely laughable to be brought up

and on the last part i do see what you mean to an extent, or at least she is definitely trying to present a certain type of different persona in a different way than what she did before and knows what works in the modern social media environment. so it can come off annoying or even pretentious sometimes especially when she again adds in the irony and in-references which I don't think always work well. like that movie she came out with had to straight up confuse the f*** out of anyone who isn't a superfan and turn them off her. I'm not looking for artists to be my friend or hero though so I can live with it

  • Need the album to sound like this but with more thrash
