You not sticking up for yourself you sticking up for drake! DRAKE!
There’s no excuse. I’m saying the song would’ve been everywhere if it could’ve been everywhere, but we were all locked up inside.
Your opinion on cultural impact and mine can differ. I think drake has pushed multiple doors open with the way he has released songs that you wouldn’t think are number 1 smashes but still soar to the top of the charts. He did this exact same thing with Marvin’s Room on Take Care.. that was a single he picked for that album and people had a weird reaction to that.
I wouldn’t compare drake to Michael Jackson because the eras are different, but that doesn’t take away from drakes impact.. he just had to switch things up due to consumption, expectations from fans, etc.
Marvin’s Room was legit inescapable when it came out. Hotline Bling. And it’s more than just being locked up inside, some of these new hit songs legit got #1 and then drop from the charts, which isn’t a slight against their quality, all I’m saying is that the standards for a #1 changed
You not sticking up for yourself you sticking up for drake! DRAKE!
Not only that but I was having a convo with somebody else Lmaoo
You not sticking up for yourself you sticking up for drake! DRAKE!
But I'm not
You sir, are fighting against him tho
For years on end now
People saying Drake #1s don’t count remind me of Skip saying Bron bubble ring doesn’t count Lmaoo
S*** is pure insanity
if Curry got that bubble ring y’all wouldn’t count it

So, go complain to Billboard?

There were plenty of songs that dropped during the pandemic that blew up like a typical big hit…Toosie Slide just didn’t hit like that
But I'm not

Now we just capping. I hate on his fans who live vicariously through him
His music i don't really speak on. If i don't like it i don't talk much about it
So, go complain to Billboard?
Except I’m not complaining I’m making an observation, yall be really wanting to f*** these rappers or sum cuz ain’t no way y’all this sassy over a normal take lmao

you’re not allowed to point out the differences between eras or provide context, because then that means they can’t compare Drake to Michael Jackson anymore

I’m not talking about numbers or consistency. I’m saying we would’ve “heard it outside more” if we could’ve actually gone outside. That probably applies to the majority of the songs you’re referencing from that timeframe too.
Toosie Slide is/was overhated smh
Man saw an opening and tried to sneak in that terrible song

Except I never said anything about hearing it outside. I just said his older hits were inescapable in terms of popularity
To the contrary it isn’t hated enough
It’s my opinion but it’s unfortunately facts

I didn’t say you said that. I was explaining my reasoning. None of the hits from the pandemic felt like real hits in my opinion because you couldn’t even enjoy them in a fun setting lol.
