Anyone who cannot see how nicely the horror theme ties into an apparently "poppy" track like 'In Your Eyes' isn't paying enough attention.

only good songs on this are after hours, blinding lights and nothing compares

My issue is that After Hours as a whole is a bit too easy for Abel. The vids and overarching artistic vision were really nicely done and had a lot of integrity, but the music needs to be a bit more ambitious to justify the grandeur of his vision. He is easily capable of a lot more, and it seems like he's getting closer and closer to realising his potential. Hope he keeps pushing forwards. Fairly satisfied with the album.

I don't give a f*** about "rEcReAtInG tRiLoGy", which seems to still somehow be the straw man of choice around here after like 8 years. But it's a shame his singing style has regressed so much since then. Would love for Abel to go back to singing with passionate reckless abandon and having his vocals corrected afterwards (as he did in the mixtape days) rather than timidly relying on his own vocal skills and tightly controlling his delivery with his throat (as he does now). Pitch corrected Abel was a dream.

Whether it’s deep or not is still your opinion.
