Geese fan bias aside, this is a bad article with an objectively incorrect and sensationalized headline. Deceptive online marketing is not the same as being an "industry plant", that term has lost all its meaning at this point. Also, Geese was not a wholly irrelevant band prior to Chaotic Good Projects getting involved, they were already touring across North America and Europe in 2023 with 3D Country, which the article completely omits. Geese got a lot of Buzz in 2025 with Getting Killed but they didn't emerge out of thin air, especially for people tapped into indie rock. CGP also denies using "bot farms" for what it's worth. People are basically creating their own narratives to feel validated about disliking certain artists.
they still got a lot of phones tho
SPELMAN: On TikTok it's really easy to get views. You just post trending audios. Like, TikTok weights that really heavily in the algorithm. But artists can't do that because they want to promote their own music. And so, a big part of what we are doing is posting enough volume across enough accounts with enough impressions to try to simulate the idea that the song is trending, or moving, or whatever you want to call it. And then, as that happens, the artist's posts start doing better and all these kind of things, because, you know, if you were building a new account, which we do many times a day, you would never post non-trending audios. It's worst practices. But artists have to. And so, we view our job as kind of pushing against that and helping them.
INTERVIEWER: Interesting. Wait, so like how do you run all of these accounts? Do you just have a bunch of cell phones somewhere or…?
COREN: Yeah, pretty much. We have a large network of both employees, and contractors, and people in our network, and yeah – a lot of phones.
SPELMAN: We have a rapid Verizon at this point. We are like a VIP customer of them, and our office is overrun with iPhones. Our partner Adam Tarsia? has this theory about which iPhone is best. It gets deep very fast, yeah.
also, ive known about geese since 3D Country. i think it's just interesting that cgp claim to have the ability to make anything viral / gain impressions and execute it. at the end of the day, it is a marketing campaign but it's interesting to know about the methods agencies use due to the state of current social media.

Yes, it can be described as deceptive marketing using real humans to drive engagement. Although afaik the scale is not completely clear as to whether it was 250 or 5,000 accounts. Realistically I would assume it's closer to the former. Ethics aside, that simply isn't the same as having "bot farms", although dummies are acting as if 50% of the opinions you see online involving Geese (or any other artist named in CGP) is from a bot. I agree with you overall, there's just too much sensationalism and false narratives around this which is annoying.

the billboard interview in OP said they have thousands of accounts and hundreds of employees trained like college students studying how to manipulate audiences
it is more than 5000 accounts, they openly admitted they can create a trend in their sleep and get an artist popular in months, the only thing is making sure they move that off platform. they not worried about manipulating social media into making artists popular anymore, that’s the bare minimum according to that interview
they tryna turn that into tours
just like I said about there is going to be AI music being performed live for profit and no one will know and eventually there will be a real life AI artist on some Milli Vanilli s*** but properly detailed out lmao
KTT2: sensationalism and false narrative
Interviewer: so are you able to manipulate audiences into listening to what you want?
Music exec: oh yea, we can do it easily now. All it takes is trending TikTok sounds. we even put trending TikTok sounds in front of the song we want to push to make the song more popular and simulate the trend across thousands of accounts simultaneously
