Might these savvy business types have dabbled in promoting any avant-garde Bolivian noise music? Asking for a friend

Real talk Shermy you put out any noise stuff recently? Really liked the EP you dropped a while back

INTERVIEWER: You guys have run campaigns for all sorts of artists. I was looking through your Instagram. You have artists on there like Coldplay, and Zara Larsson, and Childish Gambino. Could you walk me through an example of one of these campaigns working and why you think it works so well? Maybe Childish Gambino.

SPELMAN: Yeah, Childish Gambino is a fun one. The song is ‘Letter Home’. You know, when we get a song, we sit as a team, [all] 25 people, and we talk about what we’ve seen on the internet that week, what we think's going to work, and then we try to put it into action. And we have a very serious testing process. Uh, and all of our tricks were not working. We [threw] the fastball, and the curveball, and the other thing, and it wasn't working. And then, we noticed one style of quote-on-screen creators really working. But we weren't able to do it at a scale that was actually moving the needle. So, Adam [Tarsia], who is one of our partners in the company who we mentioned, had this “fuck it, I'll do it myself” mindset. We are confident – and so is he – that we can train anyone to go viral. And so he just started training his friends, his brothers, his brothers' friends, and built this army of people to post on TikTok, and the song started going crazy, just driven off these people. I'd be swiping on my feed and seeing his brother [and] our employees going very viral. The song went very high on the TikTok charts. And now all of those people are hired by other labels and they're some of the top influencers in in music who had no experience before.

What do they mean by "get the song'? Who is sending them songs, and why are they specifically being sent to them? I mean, the Childish Gambino song is pretty rough and over a decade old, surely there should have been better options for songs that they could try to make viral all on their own.

Came across this while browsing reddit...

https://chaoticgoodprojects.org/narrative-campaigns (nuked after this was posted)

The digital marketing agency behind geese - getting killed, cameron winter - love your miles, lucy bedroque - 2010 justin bieber, jane remover - dancing with your eyes closed and more

"These 3 campaigns were 'Narrative Campaigns' which seems to have involved creating hundreds of fake social media accounts to "control the narrative" around a song or artist.

According to the founders of the company in an interview with Billboard:

"All opinions are formed in the TikTok comments — which is a reminder to us of what we can help with. I don’t know if this will make anyone feel better, but a lot of what we do on the narrative side is controlling the discourse. Most people see a video or something about an album that came out, and that first comment they see becomes their opinion, even when they haven’t heard the whole album. It’s really important for us to make sure we’re ahead of it and controlling that narrative in the direction we want.

...In the past, a label and management team would do a great job getting their artist on SNL or Tiny Desk or Triple J, post it, and then kind of wait — and the comments would come in: terrible cover choice, voice sounds terrible, all that. What we do at Chaotic Good with our management clients is: The second the SNL performance drops at midnight, you should post 100 times saying that was the best performance of the year. The question is how you do that at scale. It takes a lot of work and infrastructure, but controlling the narrative is really, really important."

In essence, this digital marketing agency promises virality and uses a bunch of fake social media accounts to push a specific narrative for the artist

looks like they also run fan pages? this is f***in wild

Listening to the interview. They straight up say they have a phone bot farm to blast a song into TikTok audio to give the impression it’s trending

They joke about having a dedicated Verizon rep because they have so many active phone lines wtf

you'd think surely there'd be a way to do this with virtual machines instead of actual phones
