MAPPA, take all the time you need to cook up more Chainsaw Man. this was the best anime theater experience ever, especially in IMAX. this film was full of emotion, unbelievable action, and truly some of the most beautiful animation I’ve seen on the big screen. also, that opening theme is a banger. Kenshi Yonezu can do no wrong. I think it’s high time I catchup on the manga to see where this crazy story goes as I wait patiently for the second season.

i’m 30 minutes into it but man, this is visually such a downgrade and i just need to rant somewhere lmao

season 1 was like what studios usually do for movies. the shading and lighting were so dynamic and with softer complimentary colors. i loved how the animation was fluid and mimicked actual film making. the transitions, the angles, the “camera” movement.

the movie looks flatter and like any other typical anime. there’s constant planning and rotating with hard cuts. it’s not bad by any means, but again, it looks like anything else.

just knit picking and it won’t ruin how i feel about the movie but it’s honestly such a shame because season 1 was special
