it is a punishment/burden to plenty of people, i'm not speaking for myself

the point is that it creates the same rules for unvaxxed and vaxxed people, which is not what is needed right now

it's less about restraining the virus rn and more about getting people to get the vaccine

not that I'm "pro-mask" or anything if that's even a thing

but this a pretty tame request, even if someone was to make the reasonable argument that it doesn't do too much to inhibit spread the inconvenience it poses to you is so slim at the end of the day

this is also just guidance based on the advice of medical experts trying to make their best educated decisions since they are the body who's supposed to recommend what the "safest" choices would be

if their recommendations had to do with enforcing social distancing/capacity rules that hypothetically harm some businesses there would be more room for conversation but I feel like this is such a small measure to take in my opinion

Y’all are really bugging if you think the whole world is going to be vaccinated in less than a years time frame. That’s not even reality on multiple levels, the mask is the best line of defense for everyone along with distancing protocols

Not even crazy about masks but it never made sense to tell ppl they don’t need them

they release guidance as they see fit. it's up to the politicians to decide what to do with that guidance

I don’t think anyone wants to keep masks on lmao but over 50% of the people won’t get the vaccine so what’s the second option when that happens

I f***ing hate this mask bruh but idk what we’re supposed to do if preventing virus spread is even remotely on our collective minds

I hate having this s*** on my face but dudes be like “vaccine is out I’m throwing this mask in the garbage time to party” without even getting the shot, just do the math on the result of that. It’s such a rock and a hard place moment for this country

to make at least a reasonable counter argument to this I know a lot of people would say that masks aren't really all that effective, which is true in the case of COVID. since masks only prevent the spread of respiratory droplets, and that only makes up an estimate of 7% ish of total transmission, it seems futile considering the majority of the spread is aerosolization in confined spaces (which a mask won't help)

i can totally sympathize with that though process but realistically people are sacrificing basically nothing by putting one on when they go indoors, if it can prevent even a little spread at no inconvenice to you, put the piece of fabric on and stop complaining

More often than not a virus will mutate to become less deadly

We're seeing this with Delta which is reportedly less severe than the regular variant but still more contagious

Best case scenario is most people get vaccinated and those who dont will get the less serious variant and get antibodies
