Playboi Carti was getting that niche internet hype off two songs. Uzi was getting hype off a whole mixtape with co-signs from Drake, Wiz Khalifa, ASAP Mob, and Young Thug. Hype that was leveraged into him blowing up in 2016. While Carti had his big tracks, he was still just with Awful Records, and while I liked that era of Carti and got much love to Awful...they were just not on the same level or had the same star power as a dude getting major industry co-signs and getting brought out on tour with Wiz Khalifa.
