I feel like no matter how different the albums are there will always be Desire vs. Raven comparisons due to the release proximity, but hear me out on this take: Raven feels like Kelela’s Pang in that it focuses more on cohesive soundscapes and a full album theme with ups and downs in energy and subject matter and Desire feels like Caroline’s Take Me Apart in that it’s packed with hits and every song can stand on its own and be even better in context
after two listens, for me this is her best work.
all of the singles keep growing on you. they're definitely the biggest earworms on the album. that "DESIIIIIIIIIRE" hook on Welcome to My Island is massive. Blood and Butter is the only single I didn't listen to pre-release, and it's amazing. Pretty in Possible and Crude Drawing also just sound so f***ing good, production and vocal wise. the songs are intriguing and make me want to dig deeper into the themes and topics she's trying to explore in the lyrics.
the album is let down a bit by the second half. I couldn't get into Hopedrunk Everasking after the energy of the tracks before it. I Believe grew on me second listen and I think Fly to You will in a few more.
bookending the album with Billions is fitting. I never felt so close to you
i'm so happy i saved blood and butter for album listen
That is to say both are AOTY contenders and incredible records
the singles are some of my fav songs in our lifetime
words can't describe what the first time listening/watching billions did to me
this was an incredible listen
feels like the kind of album that will only get better and more rewarding as i go back too

Billions is a flawless song man I’ve probably heard it over a hundred times now and it still sounds fresh
Sunset was the one that really hit me tbh. She played it live at Governor’s Ball in 2021 and I was f***ing speechless

who's going to the tour?
ethel cain and caroline together in nyc
Boston tix in hand
is ethel opening that show too?
Sadly no, George Clanton. And I like George Clanton but we really did get the worst option in context of the other openers on the tour
