Why need to show it to everyone?

we dont wanna lose the fun parts of the site but there are also a lot of instances where that can hurt the site as well ya know

I promise all this stuff is being thought about and trialed and weighed up we aren't trying to kill fun

Forgive me if I’m wrong. If you remove the counter. Isn’t it just a useless feature then? Why not get rid of it all?

that's fair bro, i think the idea ain't bad but if we gave the option to let users mark their thread as serious and if it's marked as serious we can have the likes hidden and s*** so dudes dont come in to make jokes and s***

just want to emphasize the main point, to anyone unhappy with changes, that this is a work in progress, and experimenting with changes to the like system is something we're trying out.

things will change depending on how people respond. we're watching closely how things are affected by this and how it develops, and i'll make changes in response. this is all just trial and error ofc. there'll be changes people don't like, changes people like, but we'll figure it all out

regardless, it's pretty much guaranteed that likes and other types of reactions to posts and messages will be available across most of the site, especially chat threads, group threads, audio threads, etc. once other issues are worked out with other features.

up next is probably new releases displayed as album covers at the top of music sxn, sorted by artists you're most into (if you're connected to spotify)

we want people to have fun, to have meaningful discussions, to make friends, to find others who like the same artists, to find people to collaborate on music/art with, etc. and to discuss more than just a few artists

people use the site for lots of different reasons (which is why this issue is polarizing) so we want to cater all of these different use cases.

there's not much more that can be said from me or from any mods from this point, but please post feedback in the pinned thread over the next couple of weeks. thanks!

side note if you'd like to help out with something please check the thread in creative sxn about badge design as these will appear on profiles as achievements, signifying contributions to the site, milestones such as x number of likes, etc, and other things we can come up with

to clarify: you still see when your posts have been liked (white heart), and you can see who likes your post in the notifications. (fyi: go to settings and you can ungroup notifs)

also OPs show notification counts as they always did
