Trump looked like a better candidate in 2016 (not to me obviously, but I’m putting myself in the shoes of independents), he hadn’t lost multiple elections, looked like a huge loser, threatened democracy, taken away rights, etc. that’s the type of s*** that independents and swing voters care about. All he has left is his base and that’s not enough in 2020 and still isn’t now.

Hillary Clinton was one of the most hated politicians in the entire country, ran a godawful ground campaign, had the Comey letter drop just a week or two before voting and still won the pop vote by 3 million.

you must at least realize the percentage of people that stop supporting trump due to legal cases is low. If anything that increases their support of him because many of them already have a conspiracy the government is out to get him

Conspiracy theorists are trumps base, he’s not gaining independents/swing voters with that stuff, they have disdain for felons. He’s pissed off women with roe v wade, independents with the trials, even some moderate republicans because of Jan 6th and losing in 2020 and no red wave in 2022.

The reason trump always talks about winning is because he accurately knows how shallow his audience is, they care about s*** like that and trump is a loser.

Hillary was a straight up villain with people attacking her since at least 1993 when Bill was elected (Probably even when he was governor). She was historically unpopular, just like Trump is now.

Plus she won all three debates and got cocky. She didn't campaign as hard as she should have in swing states and then the Comey Letter came literally at the last minute.

I don't think anyone is guaranteed to win this early by any means but Trump is definitely on the down-low since Biden's dropped out now.

A lot of people f***ing hate Trump. In 2016 he got away with the election because he was a big unknown and anti-establishment/populist character. Even then he still lost the popular vote against one of the most unlikable candidates we've seen in awhile.

Ppl can't just say "2016 was a big surprise, watch out!" There's not much surprises with Trump anymore. People are already on the train with him or not.
