I’ve seen a few different places say this so I’m totally open to the idea, but I’m going to be honest, I don’t understand it

I completely get how candidates at the very top (this year that’s presidential candidates) can drag down candidates down ballot if they don’t motivate their base to go vote (that was a big reason Biden got pushed out by DNC leadership).

But who are the Trump voters that were only going to go vote for Robinson and will now stay home because the governor race mattered more to them than the presidential race? I can’t imagine it’s anymore near a significant enough amount.

Depends on how hard Robinson decides to lean on Trump’s endorsement, which is probably the best thing he has going for him.

Also the NC GOP choosing to stand by him despite this wild ass s*** (and who knows if anything else will come out) could also get people who would have held their noses and voted for Trump to just stay home instead.
