He currently still has the COVID excuse, isn't in public, and hasn't met recently with the top brass of the party. Don't see how they can just do this without coordinating next steps or the talking points for how Biden drops out. Every word he says will be important, especially on potential endorsements. Obama, Pelosi, Clinton, etc.. think they can tiptoe the press but seems like his campaign is fully intending on continuing events in a few days
