Peeping the crosstabs of the NYT poll from today that had Trump up nationally, one of the big things that stands out is the margin of Kamala being considered by voters as "too liberal/progressive" over Trump being considered "too conservative" is 15% (47% for Kamala and only 32% for Trump).

Yet another reason why her convention speech that some in here thought sounded too right-wingy was actually a poor take -- it was actually very good strategy. I said it from the onset in July -- her biggest flaw as a candidate is how people perceive her ideology given that she's a younger black woman from San Francisco. She may not actually be a leftist, but the swing voter cacs in the midwest she needs to vote for her are going to believe she is to a radical degree.

It's a bigger topic, but I also still think there's a case still for Shapiro being a better choice than Walz vibe-wise because of this need to be considered more moderate (not even counting the huge help he would have given for winning Pennsylvania). I think Walz has been a neutral or slightly positive VP choice, but I don't think he helps her appear more "moderate".
