The only connection with Ukraine is that as one of the largest crypto businesses he had private citizens from Ukraine, suffering an invasion and a collapse of their currency, trying to safeguard their funds into crypto for stability and he scammed them but this is not relevant to the aid and weapons we sent them. So your assertion that our aid to Ukraine (it’s much more than the $20 billion figure you quoted) is a form of money laundering is false. The majority of our aid to Ukraine does not come from direct infusions of cash.

Not one of your sources paints our aid to Ukraine as “money laundering.” Only that Sam doesn’t want a “young male” to testify that he lost his life savings to FTX, because the optics would look terrible to a Jury for Sam that he scammed a guy in a war torn country.

A proxy war with Russia is exactly the kind of war that is ours to fight, if not ideologically then as a signal to our allies in Europe (and other places) that we will not let a malignant actor use violence to achieve their goals and threaten peace and stability. Having good relations with our allies is a form of soft power that gives us leverage in negotiations with them and gives us better deals. The billions spent in the defense of Ukraine will yield returns in intangible ways with allies across the globe while simultaneously weakening a violent Russia.
