I think that it's more a question of whose voters will be more motivated to turn out. Traditionally, voters for the party without the presidency are more motivated to vote because they want to throw the other party out (although this effect is more pronounced in midterms). Over the last year, this has been compounded by even lower democrat voter enthusiasm bc of how poorly biden was perceived as doing.

Now that Harris has replaced Biden, that has increased the enthusiasm of democratic voters, but the republicans still have the "get rid of the other party" incentive advantage. and, of course, trump being shot (after being put on trial, recall) has also given many an extra motivational boost.

(also there's definitely the gaza factor still. but i wouldn't even be able to begin to quantify how that will actually make a difference. I suppose it could definitely swing Michigan.)

All in all, I think it is a tossup and will be a very close election. it might come down to another unforeseen event in the weeks before the election which we can't even predict yet.
