Whether it’s a shift further toward authoritarianism, radical leftists crashing out and pulling illegal stunts, or something else, I feel like there may be large consequences to this.

WickedNo, man, the 2016 election should have never been that close. The U.S. just decided to vote for a celebrity with no political background who built his campaign on xenophobia and division. You have to realize that the current American zeitgeist aligns and identifies heavily with people like Trump and what he represents. They turn a blind eye to every wrong thing he says or does and are eager to believe in any BS conspiracy theories about his opponents.
