I think the real factor on whether this becomes big or not is how they deal with "Permadeath" and loss of progression...Casuals aren't gonna play if they have to start over from scratch every time they die. I'm hoping its like what this reddit user described below:

"The thing that's different is that you don't necessarily regress like in Hunt: Showdown where you lose a whole human and all that gear on him/her. Anything you've ever managed to secure in a previous match as valued data artifacts if you bring it into a new match with you and die is still yours permanently. Think of it as that you refabricate the tools/weapons you have the knowledge to recreate over and over again. The risk comes from the current run, and not the prior ones."

Hype for this still but I just replayed Reach and god do I miss Bungie’s single player narrative competence.

Destiny was obviously a success but such a dropped ball in a lot of ways too. Like specifically I remember thinking after the space flying missions in Reach and knowing in Destiny we would get personal ships it was assumed we’d get to fly, it’s 2025 in destiny 2 and that still isn’t a reality that clearly just got left behind.

i wouldnt be surprised they arent confident in the game. DrLupo (streamer) said he’s played a lot of marathon and that bungie hasnt taken some of the feedback they suggested and that the game could be better

i completely dropped destiny 2 after shadowkeep. last true grind i did in that game was during the Recluse and Luna's Howl meta. ive tried so hard to get back into the game since then but i just cant. sad because D1 and first half of D2 are some of my most played games ever.
