interesting perspective on last 15 years of "indie rap" (maybe also corny but not a bad label tbh). Ka was def a big player in the development of where it's at now.

also what he's saying about Ka's 2nd act is very very true. there's such a small group of rappers who had 2 impactful careers both as a youngin and elder.

it was always my 'hot take' but i never liked the first two albums. some hooks on that first one are not it. iron works is better but iirc it still isnt all the way 'there.' knights gambit for me is when he really gets into it

2nd act is a great insight but i also think he by now realizes how tryhard his whole side of the genre was. meanwhile ka was doing it almost entirely different (no movement, no grand art statements, as few collaborators as possible) and his catalog aged a ton better
