Might ask this in the other thread too but if people are up for it - now and in the future - can people post lyrics and verses from Ka that they love
I love when people post lyrics here, really highlights and makes them pop for me especially for someone like Ka
@sentient_sherm_bag and a few others been posting lines in the RIP thread and I've loved seeing them

Now, I hate that this mentality exists, but if theres any artist that should get bigger and celebrated after death - it should definitely be Ka whos more deserving of such a thing than damn near anyone else
This the type of death that makes you realize just how short life is.
52 years old...I imagined Ka making music all the way up until his 80s like a jazz musician.
Literally bro i always thought he'd be one of the oldest rappers to never fall off.
His style is the definition of timeless

I am grateful to have found the courage and humility to tell you just how important you are to me. You know that I love you, because I told you so, and I know that you love me, because you told me so. I will never forget you, your smile, your laugh. Thank you for your brotherhood, your leadership, your unconditional love, your words of encouragement, your hugs, your sense of humor, and the precious gift that is your music. I will continue to celebrate your name, just as I always have. My heart breaks for Mimi, your family, your love ones and everyone who ever had the honor of getting to know you. Your life is in the music, it's all there. You lived up to your name, KA... and now I must live up to mine. Thank you for setting the example. I love you. My man...

Great pick
Full of teeth and beauty all at the same time, closing bars so tough
the only record of his i checked out before was Descendants of Cain, it was getting a lot of hype back then. thought it was only right that i played the last offering he left.

Yeah I remember saving this years ago thinking it was the first time i seen a rapper make a film from their album
Going through social media and man..
Cats left and right in the underground game showing how Ka always showed loved.
From Eto to Starker.
Ka never acted like he was bigger than anybody

one of my absolute favorite verses of his like how the f*** does someone do that
descendants of cain will always hold a dear place in my heart. patron saints is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i’ve ever heard. thank you for everything ka.
Open Mike talking about Ka's passing
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSfDGQTc_jIAbsolutely beautiful
I wanna go from s*** to brick to boulder
Long as cops don’t witness this like Jehova
Such a raw reintroduction

The development from Iron Works to The Night’s Gambit in a two-year window is wild

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSfDGQTc_jIinteresting perspective on last 15 years of "indie rap" (maybe also corny but not a bad label tbh). Ka was def a big player in the development of where it's at now.
also what he's saying about Ka's 2nd act is very very true. there's such a small group of rappers who had 2 impactful careers both as a youngin and elder.
KMD / DOOM
Digable Planets / Shabazz Palaces
Nightbreeds / Ka
all of them were only lowkey impactful underground players turned super impactful elders. all of their early work kinda underrated too tbh

it was always my 'hot take' but i never liked the first two albums. some hooks on that first one are not it. iron works is better but iirc it still isnt all the way 'there.' knights gambit for me is when he really gets into it

2nd act is a great insight but i also think he by now realizes how tryhard his whole side of the genre was. meanwhile ka was doing it almost entirely different (no movement, no grand art statements, as few collaborators as possible) and his catalog aged a ton better
i feel like mike's sentiment of not being able to listen to his older music rings true to a lot of folks from his camp (idr if he spoke about it on this stream or another). milo had to use an entirely new name because of that lol
Hymn & I is one of his best ever, even if it really breaks my heart to listen to. Long live the greatest ever
Everyday just gathering strength
Build a shield to really deal with the next tragic event
Advanced lines about the last times I had to relent
Since conceived, believed some things was too bad to repent
Was charmed, had a moms to rejoice, a dad to resent
Knew it was all about a dollar before I gathered a cent
And reasonably, could easily be on the ave in a tent
Ka couldn’t cry, so I had to lament
Then thought I'd meet my end violent in thе street
Changed lifestyle, how I’m living right now, I’ma die in my sleep
What I want to earn from this journey is to arrive my peak
Assess more goals for myself, like surviving this week
ill be real i only played The Thief Next to Jesus once when it came out. i went back to it now and i think its one of his most dense albums. from raps to production which might be some of his best beats ever tbh
