I mean we were promised Metal Clergy last year so who knows
personally id be interested in more historical/character-driven stuff sim to his last few projects. if it aint broke don't fix it
I don’t think so-I think we’d hear from Roc if that were the case. I hope it’s just another solo album, cause I’m interested to see where he goes after HKTS

Definitely! Most familiar with Honor Killed the Samurai but I’ve been listening to The Night’s Gambit lately. Also need to dig more into Dr. Yen Lo. Mach’s my favorite rapper but Ka might be the best objectively as far as the way he writes. Mach’s super esoteric so I get why he’s not for everyone but anyone who understands English and knows a modicum of street slang (or is just good with context clues) should be able to comprehend and appreciate everything Ka says.
And I’ll say it again: anyone who’s heard Ka and doesn’t like him probably thinks The Wire is too boring.

Never got a chance to watch the Wire, need to do it now while it's free
Thanks for reminding me

Good point
Ka is way more accessible but still has insane bars, which is a hard balance to strike
Broski what's the best joint to check from this mon ?
You really can’t go wrong with any of it, but Honor Killed The Samurai, Days With Dr.Yen Lo and Orpheus vs The Sirens are the ones I’ve listened to the most from him.
I feel like Mach’s rapping draws much more from a verbal storytelling basis (duh but still) while Ka has an almost epic (in the poem sense) quality to his pen. It reminds me a lot of the writing style from Moby D***

Great distinction. Ka definitely uses way more literary devices than Mach. Like the way he uses chiasmus is f***ing smooth:
“As pedal jacks observe devil acts, word to God”
“They air sweet, I’m more salt of the earth”
“My resumé say starve yesterday, tomorrow dine”

Never heard of this literary device before, thanks for putting me on. Gonna try to practice this today -
I think I understand but can you point out the examples of it in those bars (looked up the definition but just want to make sure I understand)

Word. It refers to a switch of words in the same line to create emphasis. Most commonly it’s used with the same words, the famous example being JFK’s quote, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” But Ka takes it further and uses opposite imagery for a heightened effect.
“devil” vs. “God,” “acts” vs. “word”
“air” vs. “earth,” “sweet” vs. “salt”
“starve” vs. “dine,” “yesterday” vs. “tomorrow”
Eto uses that s*** like crazy too. I personally think it’s so impressive

Thank you for this
Looking up the rote definition just focuses on flipping clauses so I wanted to confirm that it could be applied to flipping words/concepts as well
Oh my god this tracklist... not only are we getting biblical Ka, but every producer collab he’s a part of too. This is gonna be next level. F*** i can’t wait until friday. I hope it goes up at midnight thursday

“According to the Book of Genesis, Enoch (/ˈiːnək/; Hebrew: חֲנוֹךְ; Ḥănōḵ) was a son of Cain, and father of Irad. After Cain arrived in the Land of Nod, to which he was evicted by the Lord as his punishment for murdering his brother Abel, his wife became pregnant and bore Cain's first child, whom he named Enoch.“
