over the top and campy in the best way possible Jesse and Christian were going all out in every scene, if you didn’t enjoy the trailer you probably won’t f*** with it

loved both trailers so im excited
Genuinely made me reevaluate a) Buckley as an actor b) GDT’s ‘Frankenstein’ given how it absolutely soars in comparison and c) my excitement for Bale in Heat 2.
Any criticism that has been levied at Emerald Fennell could be doubled and given to Maggie Gyllenhaal here. Truly atrocious. Piss-poor plot, even worse dialogue, and the attempts to shoe-in the messaging of 2016-era feminism left the worst taste of all in my mouth. Atrocious.

I thought the same about Buckley’s performance at first but what bothered me about it so much was the dialogue so I can’t put too much blame on her

yeahhhhh, the entire split personality thing made me cringe. From the opening sequence it was brutal.

Joker comparisons are lazy, this is closer to Babylon
Heard Sean Fennessey say the same and I just do not see it haha

That sounds like a good thing to me

Jessie’s loud and annoying performance reminded me of Margot’s + the 1930s setting showing the facade of old hollywood

I f***ing love Babylon. Bring it on

Yeahhhh, I just think that's kind of where it ends.
I loved Babylon but could not stomach this. Also think Joker comps go farther than just the story and the half-assed "starting a movement" moments, so much overlap behind the scenes.
Haven’t seen it yet so can’t speak to any thematic or formal jokerisms but it also has the same composer and cinematographer as joker so I’m sure Maggie had a little something in mind. Could’ve been something as innocuous as ‘I want my movie to look like that / sound like that’
a bad movie that is secretly kinda lit, even though it’s a lil too long the movie is not boring and well worth a watch, it has the quality of a one-person-show in a way that is difficult to articulate
