Finished the four regional phenomena last night. The Lightning Temple is far and away my favorite dungeon but all four quests were fun to me. I think i had low expectations for the dungeons so i was just vibing. I dont mind the divine beast structure at all. To me, the Lightning Temple is closest to the traditional setup most were hoping for.

that monster forces thing in Hyrule Castle was also fun since i was hoping for a Cave of Ordeals/Minish Cap dungeon simulator type facility in totk. I do hope there is something like that outside of the story.

The H A N D S are your og and should be respected as such

Shrines and dungeons struggle to coexist cus ideally you probably want your best shrine puzzles to be incorporated into various dungeons but you don’t want dungeons to just feel like 5 shrines mashed together

But you also can’t just scrap 120+ shrines for a few dungeons. Unless we get like 10 dungeons that are much larger in scale. But then you still have to have something in the overworld worth doing that replaces shrines. Bandit camps and caves aren’t enough

No matter what the main pieces of content in the game are going to be compared to dungeons and considered dungeons regardless of name and presentation so it’s not something they can get rid of

Hard to compare em cause the story and dungeons in ocarina way better. They in the same tier to me.
