I accidentally saw one character design, but im not gonna use that as an excuse to see the rest of the leaks
That's super interesting actually thanks
and I'm not gonna avoid the 2d ones for sure, Link to the Past looks so charming it would be a shame not to play it
The minish cap is one of the greatest of all time for me
The minish cap is one of the greatest of all time for me
The eponymous cap looks very cute
Ill never forget when my cousin stole the minish cap and i made my uncle go back to his ex wifes place to get that s*** back from him
You should play ocarina of time and majoras mask with 4k upscaled texture packs the MM Pack by nerrel is incredible
How is this done?
My guess is TOTK introduces s**
Re-watch the trailers and watch breakdowns of them bruh I had the same doubts but this is gonna be so different from BOTW in terms of mechanics and story, TRUST
Vehicles and new traversal systems are my guess, just from the trailers
Also a fully vertical open world for the first time, just like Elden Ring, where you had underground and above ground
Here you'll have underground, above ground + sky
They're definitely being mysterious on purpose showing as little as possible, they had BOTW to work from as a basis and that's already massive, between 4 and 6 years of development time, there is noway its gonna feel like just an expension pack
I'm sure Tears of the Kingdom game will be decent, but the trailers for the game have been pretty bad at showing what makes it worthy of being its own Zelda game rather than being BotW DLC. I really hope that sometime before launch they actually show us why Tears of the Kingdom is its own game and what makes it stand out from BotW in a meaningful way enough to justify its existence and to justify our anticipation.
Considering how many hours I've put into BotW since launch, I don't want this game to just be BotW from 2017 with some sprinkles on it. If it was a whole new world to explore, that would make it distinct on its own, but this game takes place in the same Hyrule as BotW, which means most of the magic is gone unless there's other things that make up for it and make it worthwhile to travel across the world again (and yes, I know we'll be able to explore the sky and the underground).
I want the game to feel fresh, distinct, different. A super easy way for them to do that for me is by changing the animations (for running, fighting, jumping, gliding), but based on the trailers they did not do that. Game looks more or less like the same BotW game we got 6 years ago, but with some sky islands and underground caves sprinkled on top.
Again, I'm sure the game will be decent, but what they have shown so far has been underwhelming to me.
Tbh at least for me being able to fly around seamlessly in the sky and reaching cool Islands at a stupidly high elevation with a made up hot air balloon is insane to think about and something no other dev ever dared of thinking. In elden ring you reached farum azula with a loading screen, in totk you fly there yourself you know. As if that wasnt enough there will be huge underground areas, new enemies, npcs, possibly more traditional looking dungeons, different and evolved combat system, a new aesthetic identity unique to totk and more we dont know. I think that for many no matter how much the team tries they'll never consider totk as unique and separate from botw because they share the same art style (in a series that hardly if ever did it), and they share the same hyrule. Even with massive changes and additions i doubt some will ever shake off that feeling. But at least with hyrule, they already reused once a map from a classic Zelda in a link between worlds and despite sharing almost identical geography, the hyrule of lttp and link between worlds still feel quite different. Also, they know what the strength of this new formula is, they wont reuse the same with no major difference in landscapes and points of interest. We know for example the deku tree is nowhere to be seen, the lost woods arent where they should be. Also, i feel many are underestimating the amount of sky isands in this game

I really relate to your worries but just watch a few breakdowns of the trailers we've got so far on YouTube, I thought they were underwhelming too but when u dig deeper there's actually a ton of stuff that is being hinted at, I don't think it's gonna be a slightly updated breath of the wild, I think this game is gonna make botw feel like a demo for the real deal
I'm exaggerating a bit but I have a lot of faith that this won't be disappointing

Yes bruh at first I thought it was gonna be like 4 mid sized flying islands but from the trailers it seems like they're gonna come in all shapes and sizes my imagination is going wild
People who've looked at the art book leaks have said that the trailers barely showed anything
Looking back at BOTW marketing it was also pretty underwhelming tbh
That last story trailer was hype af but yeah agree we really didnt know s*** (which was a positive imo)

BotW had way better marketing than TotK has had so far, and do not forget that BotW was a completely new Link, built on a whole new engine, takes place in a whole new world, has a whole new art style, new enemies and features. Everything about BotW was already new and distinct, so whatever they showed off, it was always fresh. In TotK however, most of what you see in the trailers is things you have already seen before (but with some new things added on top). That's why the TotK footage feels underwhelming in comparison.

I'm thinking we'll probably get a story trailer in April to make some of the mystery go away

Yeah that is a great point actually
I'm hopeful they'll release one last trailer that will make what this game actually is a bit clearer
