Bivol also was not as defense oriented as the fight went on. Hit and dont get hit. Bivol’s offense AND defense was there in equal amount, especially towards the end with the check hook on the INSIDE against an elite inside fighter in canelo

Couldn't keep up with the activity. Knew he was in trouble the second Bivol was double and triple jabbing without recourse. He can't keep up with that for 12. The last person to make him work that hard was Golovkin and Golovkin still had to respect the return. Bivol had been in there with bigger punchers than Canelo before.
If canelo wants to beat a clinical boxer type fighter it has to be with skill, not power. Floyd did the same to canelo so its def not about bivol’s power as much as it is his skill
Also one last thing, canelo’s been gassing in the 10-11th round in fights that he’s winning so we all shouldve seen this coming. And Goats dont get frustrated and throw hissy fits they try to adapt
Hearn about to call Canelo/Bivol an experimental fight
I think DAZN/Hearn are fine with this. Having Canelo lose on their network seemed like the plan when Mannix was pouring praise on BJS for barely fighting.

Yeah,in actuality,DAZN/Hearn are cool with this. Bivol/Canelo was promoted as a risk for Canelo from the jump so that lessened the blow of the loss a lot. It’s like, the way Canelo looked in there with Bivol and the way he loss just made him look in over his head vs a bigger,(and also)great boxer in Bivol.
His rep doesn’t take a hit like that in this fight vs losing to someone like Jermall Charlo or GGG in a 3rd fight at MW. I expect a quick turnaround for the rematch and Canelo to flex his A-side power to gain some advantages before the bell rings the next fight.
Tbh is anyone really that surprised canelo lost? This fight was a perfect example of why weight classes exist

Skill***
Bivol still couldnt knock him out. Canelo could prob still beat some lhw, he'll never dominate though
Was the weight a factor when canelo couldnt beat a small mayweather who also outskilled canelo? also lara, also GGG in the first fight?
canelo has a big problem with picking up his pace when he needs to.
he never does it. he is like a better skilled Danny Garcia.
Another thing that really excites me about Canelo losing is that Spence/Crawford may actually determine the #1 P4P fighter in the world because of it. Man,Spence/Crawford is gonna be a real super fight when it happens
Anyone notice Canelo doesn't throw 3 and 4 punch combinations anymore?
That was the problem with him the whole fight,0 variation in his punches. Bivol put fear in Canelo with those straight leads and jabs,he was flustered for a majority of that fight,he seemed obsessed with breaking Bivols guard with his right hook but it wasn’t happening.
My whole point is that canelo is a great fighter, but he’s not the second coming the way he’s been hyped up to be. Lost to GGG, kovalev and plant had that same jab heavy style but were too timid.
Ok but you said it best, when was the last time canelo won from actually outboxing opponents? Past those, counter hooks, canelo has no other levels to his game. Its boxing not mma, that wont fly forever. He fell in love with his one-hitter counters and active high guard that only worked on mid western euro fighters that are defeated before the fight. Canelo barely showed a jab this fight.
I understand, he is very very skilled, great counterpunching decent jab and great footwork. His fans do overhype him a bit so I can see where you're coming from! He fights like he's sparring which is impressive but on great technical boxers it doesn't work. Especially one that's bigger, faster, smarter and have more tools.
As for last time outboxing someone? Cotto but it's subjective i'm sure most people who lose to canelo say they got out boxed. He also has the ability to technically box though we've seen him get on his toes, focus on the jab and on defense but it's usually for a round or two. Just not his style and it's fine, he can excel using his type of boxing if it means he gets to unify belts. Fighters who unify are just special.
Apparently Bivol walks around 180-185 pounds and says he maybe can make 168. Going down and taking all the belts would be wild
I mean, besides the Canelo lost, that was actually a pretty good fight. Canelo never just backed down,he just couldn’t get himself fully into the fight,no matter what. And Bivol was actually flawless in his execution,he understood everything Canelo was trying to do and didn’t allow him to do it.
Canelo’s people need to let him know,”don’t fight Bivol again, take a break and comeback next yr at MW” too much pride in money on the line tho. His star is still intact cause he still looked viable in defeat but he can’t take another loss to same guy back to back.
maybe a hot take but I think Canelo would lose to Joe smith as well
very possible
they should have done Canelo vs Beterbiev first. Thats a much easier fight for Canelo than Bivol
matchmaking nightmare for Canelo's team. They on they high horses for this one. It was expected and any real boxing fan, yea yall love to call out "real" boxing fans, real boxing fans cashed out on this one in the sports books.
Cruz might beat Garcia
Cruz/Garcia is a great test for Garcia. Cruz is a hungry motherfucker right now.

First paragraph is facts.
But Canelo taking a vacation in his prime for over half a year bc 1 L? Nah dude doesn’t work like that. He said 2 more fights this year. He for sure is going for the rematch, but I think sticking with the GGG trilogy is his best shot at bouncing back between the 2 options.

I’m saying vacation and then a return to MW because,me personally,I don’t think he can just bounce back and beat Bivol in September,he’s just outmatched against him. And if he loses in that exact same fashion, his spirit is cooked,I don’t see Canelo ever being the same if he loses back to back.
But the double edged sword that comes with this whole situation is that,I don’t think he can just move on to GGG in September without addressing his 1st loss in almost a decade. Plus the fact that GGG is getting old, that 3rd fight is on shaky legs right now. But forreal,Canelo’s team needs to be figuring out the best options for Canelo that doesn’t allow Bivol to snatch his soul with back to back losses.
Canelo’s ego won’t be able to take it.
If the rematch happens right away, I'd definitely consider dropping some money on bivol. Just don't see an easy path to victory for canelo, especially when you run it back right away.
And I never bet on sports.
