This whole Black Messiah thing people put on Kendrick pissing me off ngl
Mr Morale and "I'm not your saviour" aside, when has he ever made out like he's Malcolm?
Even on TPAB the poem finishes out as “Or maybe I’m just another nigga”
He already planted the seeds of him being flawed and far from perfect even in songs like “u” or “How Much A Dollar Cost”. Lots of users on here are exposing their inability to comprehend art
Im going to be that guy but its crazy people listen to music about people killing people but we’re drawing lines here or even worse singling one or the other out for something like we gotta be honest about ourselves and can’t have it both ways. That being said they both took it to a level that I personally don’t think it needed to go to but charge it to the game atp

I don't agree with the poster in here, but there has been a number of instances where he's fed into it. And one of my biggest criticisms of Mr Morale is not acknowledging that enough
Heaven & Hell on Overly Dedicated, especially the 2nd verse
Hiiipower lyrics and the beginning of the music video saying Pac visited him in a dream
The Heart Part 3 "Will you let hip-hop die on October 22nd?"
TPAB being centered on his trip to South Africa and how he obtained enlightenment visiting Mandela's cell
Grammy performance dressed as a prisoner in chains
The Jesus imagery in the N95 music video and during this latest era
If you talk about Malcolm X, MLK, Fred Hampton, Mandela and how Pac came to you in a dream telling you not to let his vision die - what do you expect?
This wasn't a mantle that people just put on him, he's done things to encourage and embrace it
"Want you to love me like Nelson, want you to hug me like Nelson
I freed you from being a slave in your mind, you're very welcome"
Like you can't blame fans for putting him on that pedestal when he's been saying s*** like this
I thought the songs indicated sexual assault was bad, like as a negative thing about the other person
go tell people to stop making light of d*** dealing, gun violence, and generally breaking the law too then smh.
Also, one of these parties is insulting the other for sexual impropriety, the other is accusing the other of fixating on accusations of impropriety as a trauma response. why are either of those things off-limits? s*** for brains
On one hand, I think beef has always been a dirty game in rap. Hit Em Up and Long Kiss Goodnight were both insanely cold and diabolical disses, arguably worse than Kenny's and Drake's. So, I'm not all that outraged by it and it's cool to see Kendrick and Drake sounding hungry and delivering stellar diss songs.
On the other hand, I'm not sure if these disses are "saving rap" as much as people think. Yeah....there's bars and what have you but it's the character assassinations, beef, and the "tea" that's drawing people to these songs the most.
To me, "saving rap" would be Kendrick and Drake dropping strong/quality albums with that same level of hunger where they're rapping about regular things outside of beefing.
So, until that happens, I can't say that people being tuned into these disses alone is "saving rap." It'll only matter if that same level of interest is directed to rap songs that don't involve beef.
both of them were willing to make look crazy for normal people just for their ego
idiots
kendrick si the bigger idiot because he all started this because he wouldnt jump on fps and was in his feelings because cole/drake "cliquing up" what a f***in weirdo

i mean this all started from Control and years of back and forth subliminals tbh

You bring up some interesting points but I don't think it's fair to say that any of this, even the pre-Morale stuff, suggests he believes he's a savior figure to the black community.
A public figure who's knows he's influential and wants to make a positive impact, yes.
A Messiah, no.
The Grammy's thing was a commentary on mass incarceration/for-profit prisons. Why does him using his medium / one of his biggest platforms at the time to communicate that, mean he believes he is the key, the chosen one who can stop it all?
Hiiipower lyrics similarly was him putting responsibilty on himself to use his platform to spread conscious/radical ideas. He called the song "food for thought". He never said he's going to lead a revolution?
Morale era Christ imagery is tongue-in-cheek, playing off how people perceived him. The message I took away from all that was the exact opposite of "I believe I am the Black Messiah and everyone should look at me as such."
IMO the Malcolm/MLK/Fred stuff is him relaying the importance of thinking critically and living in concert with those thoughts. But that was never him putting himself on the same level as them.

they were much younger back then though and still had prove themselves
drake wanted to have them all on a track whiile they are approaching 40s to move on from the petty BS of the past and kendrick, not even declined but used it as plattform to kickstart another beef just to sell his upcoming album
lost a ton of respect for dot, the picture he is painting if fake a f*** because he isnt mature at all and barely has grown in the last decade
@U_R_Fking_Weird2 we know what you are

they had some s*** to address first 🤷🏾♂️

I'm a coon but u wrote this statement
"For some reason blacks took the angle serious that he was some black savior, due to the fact he is a conscious rapper and most people just use that title as being close to God like."
You think black people are stupid & it's very obvious but keep going
they had some s*** to address first 🤷🏾♂️
thats not how you adress s*** when you on that level and about to hit 40
both of them look crazy

I mean he's not going to come out and say "I'm the black messiah! Bow!!". You know what's up when you say s*** like buy my debut album or let hip-hop die, 2Pac visited me in a dream and said "you the..." and those Mortal Man lyrics I quoted earlier about how he's trying to be like Nelson Mandela and free people from their mental slavery
We can agree that J Cole, Drake, Travis Scott, Future, Tyler are on a similar level of fame/popularity. Why is it that Kendrick is the only one with this mantle? Even J Cole, who makes similar music, addressing similar topics does not have to deal with this perception
Hiiipower literally has bars about him being assassinated like some of the black revolutionaries were. This song alone mentions MLK, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Fred Hampton, Huey Newton, Bobby Seale and 2pac. He invited the comparisons, what else do you expect
Soft ass nigga
soft cus the women in both their lives are pawns for their petty beef
Women always lose when men go to war
yea and not the poor/weak men who get torn to shreds and literally die. Nah, the women are the real victims

Yes most of you are dumb niggas, including all other races. I’m sorry I don’t agree with you on how I view my people and their opinions on certain topics. I just don’t like people like you.
"Want you to love me like Nelson, want you to hug me like Nelson

Fr, untitled one is about judgement day and kendrick says he made TPAB to save mankind as one of the reason he should go to heaven.
The whole Messiah persona didn't come out of nowhere lol. There's lines like that throughout his discography.
Even outside of the music, he had some interviews that shows he had a Messiah complex like when he was addressing the blacker the berry criticism
The beef fr became lame since 6:16 and both sides started tossing out unfounded garbage and inciting reactions
But you’re right. It’s been especially sad seeing all these twitch streamers and YouTubers who have no clue wtf is going on suddenly start chiming in just to profit off the biggest moment in rap in over a decade.
I wouldn’t say lame. It became a lot more brutal than what we thought was gonna happen. 6:16 wasn’t a diss but just an attack 😂
I think you second point is a bigger issue with how things are now anyway. People jumping on what’s popular without caring about the past.
One is being attacked for being an abuser
One is being attacked for being abused (which isn’t even true because of misunderstanding lyrics lol)
Obvi if Kendrick is totally fabricating the Drake stuff up that’s messed up, but if it’s true he’s publicly calling attention to something that a lot of people are consciously ignoring
