" If treated without surgery or just by shaving out the damaged part of the meniscus, return to activity is usually possible in about four weeks, after progressing through a rehabilitation program."

Like I said, it took me 5-6 weeks to be able to play and im no f***ing athlete. Assuming it is not a complete tear, which I doubt it is he should be more than fine for Round 2. Playoffs only start in 3 weeks.

Do yall realize this couldve been a career threatening injury? He will be fine

No one wants to do the removal surgeries though anymore and for good reason because those are worse for your knees/career in the long term

I hear you but I kind of feel everyone else too because Celts are rolling and it sucks to have an indefinite injury put a damper on that + bigs and meniscus injuries can be tricky but hopefully this is something like what Embiid went through

honestly he had looked a bit hobbled to me during the past few games lol. It felt like he lost an edge to his step since the Denver game, and that's when they rested him for thendinopathy.

Watch this guy come back during the playoffs better and more energized lol

ur just concerned abt him reaggravating the injury a la KD, but he WILL be playing assuming we make it to Round 2. This is not a torn ACL, I don't get why people are freaking out so much. The worst case scenario is he reaggravates it during playoffs or we get BKN in the 1st round

Reaggravating won't be an insignificant concern though. The fact this happened at all is pretty s***ty

Yea it was for Embiid too and he still put up 30 in the playoffs playing through it. It is what it is, guy already looked hobbled asf, could've been worse. Glad he is sitting the rest of the regular season

  • Mar 28, 2022

bruh this is such a downer. I was so high on this team and we might not get to see them together in the playoffs

Exactly I don't get why the f*** people are losing their s*** on twitter. This is actually decent news for me. I expected something worse

Yeah the more ive been thinking about it its not nearly as bad as it could be

Plus im convinced theyll let him play in the yoffs even if hes not 100%

  • Mar 28, 2022

S***ty blow but I’m cautiously optimistic. There’s been a lot of times where jaylen or smart look like they’re about to miss months and are back in a week so let’s be hopeful

I’m just still scarred from KG’s 09 injury

As long as he doesn't reaggravate it which is a bit rare but considering Rob has chronic knee problems its possible, this will be remembered as a pathetic moment. There are people saying "it feels like someone died" on twitter when I'm confident the guy will be great in the playoffs. He was already hobbled asf, needed the rest

We just need to get past the first round and we will be fine. Rob should be back for the second round if everything is all well

Out of all the injuries, the meniscus tear is by far the easiest one to deal with. You don't even feel it for most of the time. Also whenever he plays his knees will hurt for a few days just like Rob's, Rob had been battling this bc Udoka taught them to play thru pain this year - that was brought up in interviews (unlike last year when goodie 2 shoes Brad would manage his minutes to a fault). However, especially during the past couple of weeks he looked like he was limping several times to me. He finally got 1 game to sit out the other night against OKC. Go watch the Denver game, he had to be taken out a couple of times bc he couldn't sprint. Playing the entire season had already taken its toll on his body. The rest may actually help him come back rejuvenated, that's just how chronic knee issues work. Wait on it

Like we can hype up the other guys however much we want but the defense is built around Rob. He is a game breaker on defense. On offense he is the best lob threat in the sport and that opens up a ton. If you switch his man onto the Jay's it's a near automatic offensive board. Without him the team has to somehow find a new scheme and reinvent itself in a matter of weeks. This is the best starting line up in basketball. Without rob we're looking at a first round exit

we’ll win in round 1 unless we play brooklyn but round 2 it’s a wrap without rob

It’s all been downhill injury wise since 08. KG, Perkins, Rondo, Hayward, IT, Kyrie, Kemba, Jaylen, Rob

The franchise needs to get an exorcism after this season if we don’t get time lord back

I hear the option that brings Rob back (removal of part of the meniscus) this season is going to lead to arthritis in that knee long term. repairing the meniscus takes him out for the season but is better for his long term future. considering he’s still so young I’m not optimistic we’ll see him again this year. and if we do I’d be kinda worried.

I think it's 50/50. Rob wants to play lol. But I get your concern

  • Mar 30, 2022

medically speaking he could EASILY get cleared, it's a matter of being conservative or not. His situation is a lot less concerning than Klay and Durant's during 2019 finals, and those guys still played. Not saying it's the right decision but I am 100% sure he could very easily play if he wants to. Meniscus tear, if not a full tear is far from the end of the world

I think he comes back during round 2 or ECF. Plays 20 a game and gives us a boost on the way to finals. Quote me later. Chronic knee injuries (thendinopathy) get A LOT better with long resting periods, that's why Brad would be so reluctant to play Rob a lot during last season. Rob was ALREADY hobbled as f*** before this and in pain -probably could've gotten a bit more rest-, it's pretty simple, the more you play, the more it hurts with chronic knee issues. Sit out a month and magically you feel a lot better. My best friend and former high school teammate is 6'7 with near the same condition as Rob. Has had 2 meniscus tears -keeps telling me it's the chillest injury ever- and 2 ACL tears other than the usual thendinopathy whenever he plays for longer stints. Bottom line, I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back looking great. Once again,Embiid excelled during playoffs with a partial tear. Rob's role isn't as big, and he can play 20 a game. Could it be reaggravated? Yes. But he could also get hurt next season if playing the entire season like he did this year. Short term treatment for now, play the 14 games we need him for and maybe look at a surgery and a 6 month rehab in the offseason. Chronic knee issues are always going to be there. Which by the way, prevented my friend from going pro lol
