Where is Blonde’s impact in the canon of recorded music
It's always the weeknd stans..
one of the most well thought out albums of the past 20 years
one of the few albums that gives me that same feeling that 60s/70s classics gave me
still growing with it and it’s been almost 5 years, still picking it apart, still discovering new intricacies
It's always the weeknd stans..
I’m genuinely asking though. Not trying to be a d*** I think it’s an important merit when gauging the greatest albums of all time.

I didn’t say impact

IMO if an album has a lot of influence it’s generally easily imitated and eventually sounds dated when it’s influence has passed. Not always true but definitely in some cases.

Interesting take. Can’t say I agree, but I still think any of the greatest albums of all time would have some kind of lingering influence in the game, which I can’t really see with Blonde, unless someone can prove me otherwise which I kinda want them to.

idk people who try to make their own blondes just fall flat to me. Brockhampton comes to mind.
I’ll post a selfie if u post one first
I already know what u look like 🤰
Blonde was kinda boring for me
Maybe it'll hit me later

Amazing is being very generous
Exactly. I barely played Blonde in order after the first year. The interludes add nothing to the album for me, and Futura Free being 9 minutes is some of the most extra s***. Most of the other songs are great tho.

probably those playlist r&b diy artists in the last few years that appear to be independent I assume, we still haven't seen a semi-successful artist directly influenced by frank besides choker?

The chorus sorta sounds like Tyler though

U serious bro.
Dude literally has a blonde poster in his studio and cites blonde as an influence all the time. Doesnt matter when seans career started.
Thats like saying lorde wasnt inspired by blonde cause pure heroine came out before it.

I've literally followed his career for years and this is news to me, if true. I know Frank has influenced Daniel Caesar, but I don't hear it at all in Sean Leon's music at all. I hear the Tyler influence in the bridge of that song, tho the ambient on top of a guitar playing sounds like it could be Blonde influence, but that's one song.
also @Aftermathbws is right in saying, black messiah is the better album of the 2010’s.
one thing frank does that d’angelo doesn’t ?
define the era. d’angelo albums are a masterclass in music, he’s one of the few that are on that authentic “prince” level.
but frank breaks cultural boundaries in ways few artists can. he really does help define the minimalist, lonely, isolated moment we’re in, especially as young people.
for this alone i’ll always understand why people return to blonde more frequently. but imo black messiah is the best album of the 2010’s.
MBDTF and Blonde tied for 2nd place
ok this a real take

I only watched the first life of series tbh and some clips on ig.Tbf, I can now see Frank being an influence because Sean prioritizes being an artist with a vision for all his albums (all great btw) i just dont hear it in his music, that example out of all the vids u posted stood out to me
