Bleach is probably made legendary by the attempted complexities Kubo tried - and sometimes did - to pull off, but I feel like the show is the most memorable when it’s just giving you good ol fashioned 90-2000s shonen

Guy’s friend is snatched away > training montage > guy conquers villains to reach her. No matter how drawn out Bleach got, the high points for the most part delivered…

It’s wild how much Bleach we got with only 2 real villains lol. Naruto has Zabuza, Orochimaru (by extension, Gaara and the Sound 4), all of the Akatsuki individual arcs, Obito, Madara and Kaguya

Bleach: the Seiretei (but not really a villain), Aizen & the Espadas, Yhwach & the Sternritters

You could think “half that list are just akatsuki” but it feels objectively wrong to lump the Uchihas + Pain together and not as individual villains

I guess you could do that with Ulquiorra and Grimmjow out of the espadas too

It's the same way with naruto, it's something bout the simplicity before it gets complicated.

I think one piece might be the only one of the 3 that actually got a lot better as it got more complex

Yeah there’s strengths each of the 3 have as mangakas, but Oda is simply better at establishing long term narratives (as evidenced by it still going lol)

Man the arrancar arc is so slow. Like the soul society arc was also slow but this one feels like a drag and this is from me binge watching it.

The 40 episodes of filler aside, watching bleach weekly back in the day was torture cause the pacing is so bad especially with this arc

Anime is making this arc much better than the manga did

Bleach is overrated as hell. I remember people s***ting on it after the fullbring arc and every arc after because it was actual s***, but people wanted to ride a bit of old d*** and started acting like they missed bleach and think this ass war arc is good. Go off though, I use to read naruto, bleach, and one piece when they were the big three. Just saying what I’ve observed from this bandwagon hype

I knew Shinji didn't do much of much in the manga, but I thought he at least used the bankai in the TYBW arc

TYBW was always highly anticipated for animation.

Don't think it's really a hype bandwagon thing besides initial praise for its return. Outside of that, it's kinda s*** on for its arcs regularly lol.

bbbut the show that was top 2 on every illegal anime streaming platform during the first cour, is sitting at 9.1 on MAL after 200k reviews, it's all bandwagon hype bro.

I get it might be anticipated animation wise but I just felt the shift in opinion is so weird. I can look back at chapter reviews or videos and see so much vitriol for when this was being released weekly, and now I see no one being kinda skeptical as to why it’s being helmed as peak anime. I’ll watch it because I liked bleach but I get annoyed a bit and start to think it’s overrated when people call it the best shonen anime again. That’s my gripe.

It is just strange when people start saying how it tops every other anime out of nowhere. So I just wanted to express why I think that’s crazy seeing how the reception was before.
