I swear Ridley is only doing this because he's annoyed 2049 was great.

Ridley would do anything for a bag. He dgaf. Only reason we get Romulus is because we got Covenant

What more can they do with this universe? I'm not even hating I'm just not sure.

Humanity by the time 2099 comes around has to be grinded so far down. It was rough in 2049.

I understand loving 2049 from a production stand point. Visually it was beautiful and the sound design was hard.

But the writing was just a rehash of the first one with a kid thrown in.

Even Denis said he couldn't escape the shadow of the original Blade Runner.

    Best written movies

There's a novel and an OG movie to live up to. All the themes of PKD's career. Read the script. It's a masterpiece.

In the times of reboots and franchises, I don't think anyone did it better. The jump from classic noir to neo noir alone is impeccable.

you're talking about it as if this is a Ghostbusters 2 or Force Awakens situation lol who cares if it borrows some of the same story elements, it's still not a complete rehash.

I'm not even a Denis d***rider but this is kind of a stretch.

i am saying i agree with you, idk if you took what i said differently

the OG was masterful because it brought to screen a very unique question at the time regarding robot advancement and sentience. are they really no different than us, and will this time come? a none inherently hostile robot society.

all the second did was say... yes... all of that... but what if they could also have kids!

loved the movie for lots of reasons, but agree with you the plot more or less was just alright.

been a min since ive seen both but i feel the OG asked the question "am I fake?" with Deckard grappling with the possibility of being even more of cog in the machine than he thought (+ your points) while 2049 asked "am I real?" with K starting to believe he's allowed to find value in his isolating, persecuted existence even when he finds out the truth
