This isn't an album you're done with after a weekend and a Pitchfork review. Like their first LP these lines will give clarity through revelation years later.
Remember, Bey didn't want to drop this for precisely those reasons: it would get lost in the weekly Thursday night cornucopia and be ignored soon thereafter. Their art deserves more.
This is such a special track for me. These bars emanate into my thoughts at certain moments and the message is so simple but so significant.
That’s the gift that Yasiin has. To understand these truths and live by them is admirable, but to be able to translate it in such a way that it has a direct effect on the student is mastery.

This is a great album but not on the level of the first one and this year I also prefer Pusha and woods at this moment in time. Might be a grower though. Maybe I was just expecting way too much

yeah...score was too low IMO but like others said he brought up some solid point...I wish Mos had put a little more effort into some of those verses, wish their chemistry was better, and while I personally really like the production I do feel like it gets drowned out at times or doesn't stand out as much as it should idk...Fantano basically hated most of the first half of the album lol was complimentary of the last 2 tracks and a few others though

I agree with the take that Yasiin could have had more energy in these songs, sounds like he was chillin throughout apart from the black thought record
