So I just went to my barber for the first time since the pandemic (was cutting my hair a little just to save it) and he said my hair is thin.
Should I be worried that I'll be going bald soon? What should I do if that's true?
There's a lot of factors that could cause thinning. Stress, diet, medication, alopecia, twisting/bleaching/tight braids, etc. I guess anyone's liable to go bald at any time, but I feel like for the most part unless baldness runs in your family you probably wont have to worry much about that yet if you're young..
Might be worth your while to reflect on whether or not you've changed diets recently, or using a new hair product. Something you use/eat could be causing some thinning.
Personally since being quarantined & having to adapt to an altered diet/workout regimen has been a stressful process and definitely had an effect on my hair. I started experimenting with different products & focusing on my nutrition, and now my hair is healthier and thicker than it's ever been in my adult years.
Perhaps consult a professional if you're able to. Maybe a trichologist, or even a dermatologist. They would probably be able to assess your concerns a bit better.

Thank you for your response!
I honestly have a pretty bad diet and baldness runs in my family.
I did change hair products to Shea Moisture, which I thought was good for our type of hair.
I'm going to change my diet now (I eat a lot of sugar and chips) and start working out more. I heard biotin can also help with hair.
Any thoughts on that?

Shea Moisture is decent. I use their JBCO leave in conditioner along with a few drops of tropic isle hair growth oil & Iโve had noticeable growth every month.
Working out & cardio + a dietary change could be beneficial. Even just incorporating a couple cups of some vegetables every day/other day would most likely help with thickening & growth.
Biotin & Vitamin D are good too. I take those on a regular basis. Definitely do some research on vitamins before jumping into using them as its easy to take too much of one type and get stomach aches etc

Thank you ๐๐พ and will look into JBCO with tropic isle hair growth oil.
True, true about vitamins. I did some research and saw the recommendations/suggestions from various blogs.

Does anyone know any good shampoos with mint or eucalyptus?
Plus does anyone know good products/techniques for dealing with buildup/irritated scalp
Some ACV washes helped a lot but doesn't work well on the buildup around my line that surrounds my face from the chin up

what products you use right now? I cut back to basically just a rose water spray bottle and wash with the shea moisture jbco like once a week otherwise buildup is too crazy

None right now
My forehead/parts of my face just got really oily these last few months to the point of build up
Using a cleanser when I shower helps a lot but doesn't do much for the areas I described since I don't think I should be using it directly on my hair/only use it on open skin

Highly recommend the ordinary squalene cleanser for face washing (doesn't leave my skin feeling dry and tight afterwards) and a silicone exfoliating pad (like $5 from amazon). Scrub gently in little circles
Any maintenance advice on locs?
Seen a nigga on twitter today talking about brushing them???
Idk if that would work or not, I remember brushing bringing shine to your hair back from my wave days and wonder if it would have a similar effect.

Lemon juice, honey and shea butter.

I've been having good results with Shea Moisture's jbco shampoo & conditioners.
This restore & renew version, i think theres another one with ACV in it but I haven't tried it so I can't speak to the results.

Currently i use the jbco leave-in conditioner every day & the oil I mentioned in a previous reply to the other poster. I do a full hair wash with the shampoo once every couple weeks (recently it's been more frequent but that's just since its summer & I'm a sweaty guy). Also been taking more vitamin B which helps promote growth too.
I haven't had much trouble with buildup, it's been relatively minimal since this became the routine for me.
