mississippi is the blackest state in the country at 37%, if the 800,000 black folks in chicago alone moved to mississippi it would have a majority black population. ive been saying for years that politicizing the reverse great migration and encouraging repatriation back to the south is the best move to build political capital for black americans

The fact that the Democrats are attacking him instead of working with him shows what they really think. They really believe just because you black you have to vote Democrat even if they don’t deserve it.

But Mississippi is also the poorest and least educated state

I don’t see why black people should go anywhere. Most white people didn’t want to live in cities or the “urban” parts of town cause of the black people in one side and other immigrants/minorities on the other. That’s where many opportunities are

I’m glad he’s actually taking action (and I don’t mean to compare) unlike someone like say T.I. We keep meeting one side saying this needs to happen but it never does. If something isn’t working why not try something else. He’s not telling anyone who to vote for or endorsing trump.
I feel if both sides clearly hear what’s being said and make “contracts” that they can’t keep, then it’s like a where do we go from here deal. Do other parties start actually getting peoples attention? Do ideologies start to change? Maybe

there are very few black enclaves in this country above the poverty line so i dont understand how mississippi's current socioeconomic status is an issue. also it's not just mississippi...georgia, south carolina and louisiana also could easily become black majority states if a few million folks dispersed throughout the midwest, north east and west coast relocated there.

in fact it's already happening, the black population in cities like chicago, st. louis, d.c., oakland and new york has steadily been in decline since 2010 due to raising cost of living and lack of job opportunities. gentrification is already causing a reverse great migration . if we politicized this phenomenon, with our ingenuity and actual political power a state like mississippi could flourish. self-determination could become a reality

bro i live in a city in NJ with a 17% black unemployment rate and the average rent cost for a 1 bedroom apartment is $1500. i don't see what benefits we gain living in these states were we make up a smaller percentage of the population than the national average and we're still in abject poverty. at least in a black majority mississippi we would have congresspeople, senators, judges, etc with our best interest in mind

it's literally the blackest part of the country and the only place where we could actually have some political power if we changed the demographics slightly. trust me, you aint doing no better in a state like california with a 6% black population and 30% black prison population 🥴

Yes but what is that doing? The great migration was because of opportunities not because of being forced out by prices. What do you mean politicize it? And flourish from it? I’m genuinely curious

idk I just have a serious issue with those Southern racists, y'all know what I mean. My grandparents left the South for Chicago and even beyond my opinion that says something to me. Personally I'd never go back, hell I don't even like Chicago I just stick to the burbs as much as I can, too many evil people out there and I'm not a risk taker

the current reverse great migration is also due to lack of opportunities, not just cost of living. literally look at the list of cities with the best economies for black people, cities like atlanta, raleigh and charlotte are always at the top of those lists whereas the black unemployment and poverty rates are sky high across the rust belt and east coast.

and flourish because in a state where we are 55% of the population (like mississippi would be if chicago's black population alone relocated there) we would elect politicians who would invest in black businesses and public schools, ensure that our hbcu's (which are mostly in the south) receive equal funding as pwi's, create programs to end black homelessness, rewrite discriminatory laws and secure reparations.

I feel you bro but that was almost a century ago lol s*** is not as extreme as it once was. Most white ppl are hella cautious in the south because of the f***ed up history you gotta be in some backwoods unincorporated community in bumfuck to deal with some crazy racist s*** nowadays
